We love Sage for many reasons but our top reasons being . . .

1. It's a mother & daughter business!

2. I went to grade school with co-founder / daughter, Jordan! Jordan buys for the shop and likes to discover new, up-and-coming designers.

3. Co-found / mother, Beverly Fowler, has a sophisticated eye for home decor, interior design and florals.  I used to go to Jordan's house in middle school and admire the cozy, comfortable natural design paired with clean white cottons. Beverly has worked for popular home favorites PotteryBarnWinston Flowers, and the OG of shabby chic, Rachel Ashwell. But for as long as I've known Beverly, she's always wanted to have her own brick & mortar. Since opening Sage Market & Design in 2013, it's been so great to see her fulfill this dream. And do it exceptionally well.

4. Their shop marries floral, plants and home. It's a one-stop-shop for bringing life to your home, or your friends!

5. Fun Fact: I did the Sage logo and branding a few years ago!

At Sage you will find two Everyday Napkin sets in our 100% White Linen, Black Chambray Twill and Black & White cotton prints! We gathered all of Beverly and Jordan's favorites and created limited batches just for Sage—all edged in gray, blue, white and aqua . . . hello coastal living! Our reusable, cloth napkins are perfect for outdoor entertaining, summer bbq . . . beach trip . . .  drinks with friends and simple, summertime meals with kids!

Next time you're in the neighborhood stop by and tell them I sent you! And for those who have the pleasure of living on the north shore, I am so excited to be in your neck of the woods!

The Everyday Napkins is now at West Elm Fenway in Boston!

Kathryn Yee1 Comment

Hi! We're back! I hope you are having a great Summer!

I know, it's been awhile! Jake and I got married (Yay!) on the fourth of July in Newport, Rhode Island and had the most amazing day of our lives! We spend months planning and it was everything we could have ever imagined. We were surrounded by our closest friends and family, and lots of love. We are truly grateful and feel so lucky. After the eventful weekend calmed down a little, we spent a few days with my brothers, my sister-in-laws and my niece before they headed back to California. Then Jake and I went on a mini honeymoon getaway to the coast of Maine to enjoy being husband and wife and each other! More to come on all of that later!

What I really want to formally share is some really big big news! If you haven't already heard or seen for yourself, we are beyond excited to announce that after many months of working with West Elm and their parent company, Williams-Sonoma, we are officially a part of their wonderful selection of local New England makers called West Elm Local! West Elm is one of my favorite stores (you can find me shopping there frequently) and we've had a couple events there including our Launch Party back in March! West Elm Fenway has been a huge supporter of Bash and The Everyday Napkin from the start. I was so excited when we got the news around the same time as our Launch Party that West Elm corporate was interested in The Everyday Napkin!

Fast forward four months! You can now find The Everyday Napkin on the shelves of West Elm Fenway in Boston sitting with some of my favorite local markers and artists! Some of them are: Albertine Press, Forest Bound, J Hill Designs, Cuppow, Of Note Stationers, Taylor Ceramics, and Elizabeth Benotti! They are all truly unique and special in their own way! #shoplocal

So on June 27th, just days before Jake and I married, we dropped of two bags full of The Everyday Napkin Half & Half Collection in our 100% White Linen and Black Chambray Twill! West Elm chose them The Everyday Napkin in Citron, Coral and Aqua! My favorite colors for an everyday Summer! Use our reusable, pre-washed cloth napkins / linen napkins for breakfast, lunch, snack time, at the office or at the beach, poolside entertaining, picnics . . .  any meal . . . any occasion!

Faith's Daily Finds . . . The Everyday Napkin!

Wow! This was a big surprise!

Interacting with customers (both at the retail and wholesale level)  has been the most fun and rewarding part of now owning and operating a product business. You quickly learn what their purchasing decisions are and the reasons why they either love (or don't love) your product. Its especially awesome when they find YOU and fall in love with you. Without any convincing you know they just get it and that feels good. Lucky for us, that happens more often than not and that's what happened here with Thursday's feature on the kitchn

Jake and I had just left for Rhode Island Thursday morning to indulge in yet another cake tasting, which always turns out to be our 12pm breakfast, AND to get our marriage license in Newport! How exciting, right?! Very.

Well, not too long after we got into the thick of 93 South bumper to bumper, I get an email from a loyal Everyday Napkin customer down in Philadelphia. He (Yes, he! We're his go-to-gift for saying, thank you) writes to me, "I shared The Everyday Napkin with the Executive Editor of the kitchn  . . . and she featured them as one of her daily finds today!" Wait . . . WHAT?! Our eyes lit up . . .

Chances are, you've heard of or are already a fan of Apartment Therapy. Well, this is her sister blog for amazing recipes and food inspiration!

Sure enough just one click away there we were in the praise of Executive Editor, Faith Durand, "The Best Cloth Napkins for Your Lunchbox"!!! She calls out our unique size perfect size for on-the-go, especially lunchboxes—adult and kids versions! We consciously chose this size because we not only stand behind less waste, we feel you don't need as much as you think or that you are use to with traditional, lap-sized cloth napkins. Click below to read more of what Faith has to say!

Faith, you'll be sure a set WILL land on your desk very soon. Thank YOU for loving US.

A Mother's Day feature on Remodelista

Kathryn YeeComment

Yesterday, was an exciting day . . . The Everyday Napkin was featured on interior design blog and "sourcebook", Remodelista! (I was pinching myself all day!) And I've fallen in love all over again with this beautiful dining table Justine Hand, Remodelista contributor, and I styled together for Mother's Day brunch . . . but who wouldn't want this every day?

Justine has a great sensibility for timeless pieces with natural beauty and character. I couldn't take my eyes off of this one particular find, an ivory pedestal bowl she received from her aunt still adorned with it's original manilla tag, distressed and weathered. The dishware and flatware you'll see in the post are from two of our favorite local shops: Lekker Home in Boston and Greentail Table in Newton, Mass. The glasses are Justine's and the cloth linen and cotton napkins . . . their ours!

Thank you Justine for your eye and seeing the beauty in our product and sharing it with the Remodelista community. I feel very lucky to be featured among the most sophisticated and timeless in design and to be a part of the amazing content of Remodelisa. These ladies are brilliant. I am over the moon.

My two favorite views from day . . .

Stack your napkins in "chunks" of color. You can create more depth through dense layers of color.

Don't be afraid of black with a soft palette. It adds just the right amount of sexy or handsome to your sweet tabletop.

Allow your napkins to curl, flop and be themselves. That's the beauty of linen and cotton, even a 6.5" napkin can have movement and that's all you really need.

We're at Greentail Table in Newton, MA!

Kathryn YeeComment

We are so excited to have two limited edition collections at Greentail Table in Newton, Mass.! Linda de Valpine, owner and curator of the shop, couldn't make our Launch Party at West Elm, but she loved our product and thought they would be the perfect fit among her amazing selection of table top goods.

From the moment I stepped into Greentail Table I noticed Linda's eye for mixing textures and colors. She's not afraid of color and layering materials and gives you plenty of ideas for your kitchen! Her shop is filled with beautiful blues, oranges, whites and shades of summer! Her signature orange in her logo and exterior signature stood out so much so I knew we had to create a collection that included the Greentail orange! We did just that with a special khaki cotton with a unique salvage edge. Then we did a juicy colorful set mixing our 100% white linen and Black Cotton Chambray—especially fun for a birthday party, ice cream party, hostess gift or summer cocktails!

While collaborating on these two special collections for Greentail Table, I had a chance to ask Linda why she loved The Everyday Napkin! Here's what she had to say. . .

What caught your attention about The Everyday Napkin?

To begin with, I am a big fan of cloth napkins. The unusual size and beautiful fabrics and detailing of The Everyday Napkin totally reeled me in! Once I learned more about the concept, I was totally sold.

What do you love most about The Everyday Napkin?

I love the local and green aspects of the napkins. To top it all off, they feel as beautiful in your hand as they are to your eye!

What products do you see pairing well with The Everyday Napkin?

Since Greentail Table focuses on tabletop and home entertaining wares, I see The Everyday Napkin as being especially fabulous and key for entertaining. The napkins pair well with our gorgeous glassware—from wine to aperitif to tumblers. I also like the scale of the napkins and see them being a lovely, functional accessory for our Menu dinnerware—particularly great for the lunch plates! The Everyday Napkin will also coordinate nicely with all of our Modern-Twist silicone placemats, as well as with our other unique brands of table linens. The genius of The Everyday Napkin is in it’s simplicity and versatility.

What are your favorite Everyday Napkin styles?

Since we are fortunate to have worked with Kathryn to create our own custom color scheme, which is a nod to our brand, that is my current favorite style! However, I am a big fan of the Half & Half Spring Collection with its crisp linen coupled with soft pastel, sorbet-like colors—some of which will be incorporated along with chambray in our initial offering.  I also love the Launch Collection in Citron with the bold graphic punch of design and color!

What are you most excited about with having your own custom color and style with The Everyday Napkin?

It’s very exciting to be able to offer our own custom color and style of The Everyday Napkin at Greentail Table because not only does it capture our brand visually, it also represents inherently what our brand stands for—clean, simple, modern design, of high quality, that enhances your lifestyle. We love products that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and help to provide the setting and/or backdrop for creating memories with your friends and family.

Happy Earth Day!

reusable, reusable napkins, washable napkins, cloth napkinsKathryn YeeComment

Today we're celebrating our most prized possession, our Earth! It gives us so much and asks for so little in return. It's time for us to notice even the littlest things we can do to help make this a better planet for us and the generations to come.

Back in March,  we shared some startling facts about the United States usage of paper towels. Check out the blog post and our infomation graphic here. Even before I knew the numbers, I had created The Everyday Napkin in hopes to encourage people to use less paper. Jake and I stopped using paper napkins a few years ago and recycle as much as we can. By using cloth napkins every day during our meals (big or small), we're simply reducing our waste. Our trash can is no longer filled with barely-used paper napkins and paper towels. We may not be "saving the world" but we are thinking twice and doing what we can on a daily basis . . . and in style! Landfills just don't sit well with me.

Today we want to highlight a 4 minute TED Talk, shared by my friend Lindsay, with an interesting and simple method you can adopt not just today but every day. It's called, "shake and fold". Easy. In this light-hearted short TED talk, Joe Smith makes the point that you only need 1 paper towel in public restrooms, rather than grabbing a handful which we are all guilty of. In this case, less is more. You'll think twice when you over use paper towels not only in public restrooms but also in your home.

Where are your Everyday Napkins? The numbers are astronomical. Swop your paper towels with Everyday Napkins

571,230,000 pounds could be saved if you used 1 less paper towel each day!

Happy Earth Day!
